Obsession

I loved that my fitness pal thing.  Loved it.  I could track my activity level and food too.  I didn't even have to do the math to track those nasty calories   Just one problem.  I am anna.  "Recovered" but still anna.  It never really goes away.

I obsessed.

Majorly

Every bite of food.  Every sip of water.  Every minute spent moving.

What does that add up to?  One unhealthy me.

No scales in the house and now that fitness thingy is gone too.

I had to take a break from exercise when I hurt my leg.  Now that it is starting to look better and feel better, I can get back to it.  No obsession.  Just simple exercise to stay healthy.

I eat about every two hours.  Not a full meal but I try to make those calories count.  Fruit, vegetables and whole grains.

I would like for my weight to be 130-140.  It will take time to get there the healthy way.  Oh I could do it on just a few months but not the right way.  My leg was a set back but it won't stop me from trying to live healthier.

Day one   15 minutes of step aerobics   No idea what my weight is.  It doesn't matter.
Day two  Today! ! !  15 minutes of step aerobics again.  Consistent!

A friend of ours is going to give us a tread mill!  Yippee!  I walked our old one to death.  I killed it.  That will give me another option!  Happy me.  My goal right now?  My new jeans are a size 12.  Down from a 14 this summer.  So my new goal is to be in a size 10 by spring.  I can do it!  When a size 10 fits, then I'll try to get a new weight to see what kind of progress I am making with BMI.  The gold standard of health right now according to my doctor.

    1. One day at a time. The goal is healthy not model thin. If I get back into my "skinny" jeans Dragon would have me hospitalized. and rightly so.

  4. I know how it is.. I'm jealous you can do so well with your goals.. I can not get level headed about it and I had to put my stuff on hold for awhile... :( I was panicked over getting into a size 4 after the twins and it became too much of an obsession... I'm trying very hard to be good.

I'm so glad though to see how sensible you are with everything!!
    ((hugs))
Good for you Dragon's Rose! :) - you can do it!

    1. My leg forced me to take a break and look at what I was doing. Dragon had started giving me that look too. The one that tells me that he is about to step in. I don't like it when he does that. I backed off of it the same day he was about to step in. I cut it close this time.

Me Sensible? If Dragon left for another deployment, my weight would drop like a rock and he knows it. He keeps me balanced. One day at a time.

  5. You can totally do this! I obsess too and didnt own a scale for the longest time. What worked for me was a minimum of 30 minutes of at least moderate intensity cardio five days a week, and three strength training sessions a week. I was sort of crazy about my diet too. What got me the best result? Insanity and lots of protien and water. Good luck!

    1. two sessions of 20 min on the treadmill worked for me but I don't have a treadmill anymore. :/ I killed it. Dragon used some scrap 2x4s to make me a step and I use that for cardio now. I had worked up to 20 minutes but my fall set me back a little. I am going to try to add a second session to the cardio and see how that works.

I think the american diet is too low on protean. Have you noticed that since the food pyramid came out the obesity problem has grown? (pun intended) More lean protean and less processed fast food!

  6. I like the way you set shorter term goals, Rose. That's something I may adopt, I have only had the end goal & it gets daunting, and sometimes I get depressed. Daddy, God love him says I'm perfect as I am (men are so loveable and silly) and all that matters is that I'm healthy. So I'll restart and take your lead...small goals...and his philosophy...just health.

    1. Dragon says that I am perfect too. I disagree. He encourages me to keep it healthy and only steps in when anna takes over. Which happens too often. Every time I go over board and he reels me back in. The weight I lost comes back plus some. But I keep trying!

Healthy is the goal and bacon butt is not healthy at all.

  8. Hi Rose, I think you are doing fabulously! At least you keep going. I am sticking at a 14 and can't get off the plateau. Oh well. After New Year I'll have another go and get back to my swimming. I have to try to find interesting exercise because I get bored very quickly of doing the same thing all the time. Whatever you are doing, you are doing it right! Hugs, Ami
