I have the bestest HOH EVER

Ok Ok.  I know.   I wasn't something big.  Just one of those little things he does that makes me say, "Awww"

I get very painful headaches.  Stabbing, tingling, zig zaging pain on one side of my head and face.  It is different than a migraine.  I can move.  Walking is ok, light doesn't bother it but eating sure does.  Chewing is agony.  Liquids that are too hot or cold.  They have to be room temperature.  Ick...  I know but anything else hurts.  The slight breeze from  the ceiling fan.  Dragon brushing my hair away from my face can send me to my knees.

Zomig helps the migraines but nothing touches this.   And it won't go away.  I can feel the low buzzing in my face almost constantly.  Waiting to roar to life with a full blown headache.  YIKES.  Hate this.  I feel it right now.  I am afraid to pull my pj top over my head.  I don't want to aggravate it this morning.

Last night it was the worst it has been this time around.   After supper I went to bed.  Didn't undress or brush my teeth.  Just curled up in my clothes under the covers.  I heard Dragon come to bed but didn't even look up.  It hurt too much to move.  Then I heard that sound.

The one that tells me he found an ice pack.  One of those instant ones.  He wrapped it in a bandanna and placed it gently on my head.  All I could do was sigh in relief.  A cold pack is one of the few things that helps. He held it in place for a few minutes.  When he let go I lifted my hand to hold it.

When the headache dulled enough, I got up, brushed my teeth and got ready for bed.  I guess the effects of the ice lasted long enough to get my teeth brushed  but not long enough to pull my pj shirt over my head.  Owchie that hurt.  Back to bed and the ice pack.

Dragons pulled me close to him, careful not to touch my head.  I fell asleep in his arms.

No, I don't know what was so sweet about it.  It just was.  He took care of me.  No demands.  It has been so very long since i have had one of these headaches.  I am very happy he remembered ice would help.

  2. It was obviously sweet that he took care of you and remembered the ice would help. You are fortunate to have such a caring HOH. And I hope you don't have another headache like that any time soon.

  3. Ugh! I had one of those once maybe 8 years ago now. It was awful and nobody, including my neurologist could explain what was going on. I so hope that you never get another and yes, Dragon wins the best HOH of the day award.

Hope you are feeling better as each hour goes by!

  4. Thank you Susie, I have no explanation for them either. I have tried and have nearly given up. Right now I am trying to avoid triggers. That is hard to do. The good news is that they do go away after a little while. My ice pack is in the freezer. Yes, I refreeze the disposable ones. Those things are expensive!

    I am feeling better tonight!

  5. I hope you are feeling better! I have migraines, but only once that bad. Do you think it was anything in particular?
I was looking into nightshades before when you had mentioned them with the body pains.
I used to headache journal, but I haven't in forever!
You are so lucky to have your Dragon by your side.
Doesn't it make your heart melt when you feel better, to think of how they care for you? :)

    1. Emi, I have no idea what caused this but it isn't going away any time soon. I am very lucky to have my Dragon. His TLC truly does make my heart melt, even when I can't lift my head to tell him.

  6. I get migrains. I almost always get the gel ice packs out. It somehow helps those nerves concentrate on the cold rather than the pain. It helps me so much. I'm glad your guy knows just what you need. I have 2 gel packs that someone gave me, because they had to order a whole box of them to get the gel kind. Since then I heard someone who works in the PT field say that you can put Karo Syrup in a freezer bag (however I would just die if I ended up busting it open in my bed) How yucky that would be. Hope you stay headache free for a long time (like forever). Love and Prayers, Belle L

    1. Thank you Belle, I do get migraines but don't think this headache is one. It is too different from the regular migraines I get. I have a gel pack somewhere.

Hmmm... Kero in one of those seal a meal bags. Wonder if that would work? Thanks for the tip. I'll check my second hand stores for one of those seal a meal things to try it. But I'm like you. I'm not brave enough to try a zip lock. What a MESS!
