Giving the cat a bath

There has to be an easier way ♥♥♥♥ It all started with a flea crawling across her nose. You see, I hate fleas. For nearly 20 years I didn't have to deal with them. Now I can't get rid of the things. I saw the nasty little thing and started the process of getting rid of it. ♥♥♥♥ The soap was mixed, and towel made ready and an area around the sink cleared. The problem is that the cat knows the process. She knows!!! In the two minutes between seeing the flea and getting the bath ready, she disappeared. This cat was no where to be found. I looked everywhere. ♥♥♥♥ Two hours later, I gave up. I put on my shoes and went for a walk. She was found lounging on my bed covered in dust. I have no idea where she was hidden but it was dusty. ♥♥♥♥ One daughter held the cat while another gathered the supplies. We hid them in hopes she would come out. The yowling began when she smelled the soap It sounded like we were trying to drown her. I held her head. Daughter #1 held her claws and daughter #2 applied the soap and scrubbed. ♥♥♥♥ The cat acted like we were killing her. Next time I am tempted to use the toilet method. Clean cat and clean toilet with just a few flushes. Geezzz

  1. Ha! Like you we have a feline fiend who loves catching (and eating) rabbits. So we have the same flea problem.

We go off to the vet and buy flea lotion at an exorbitant price, but you can only put it on every two months. Well what about the months in between?! Now we get a flea capsule that you squeeze into the cat's fur at the back of his neck, and it's meant to last at least six weeks. I think he needs attending to again, as we are all beginning to get flea bites.

I laughed and laughed at the thought of washing our cat! I'd have to dress in a nuclear fall out suit!

    Hugs

    1. I just use whatever soap is handy mixed with vinegar. It works better than anything else I have tried.

A claw proof suit would have been nice. I am just thankful that Dragon wasn't in ear shot. My bottom would be sore if he heard my mouth. Yikes

  2. You are so brave. My "kitties" were never cooperative either.

    1. Not brave. I just really HATE fleas. Ick. In the north west we didn't have a problem with them but down south, we can't get rid of the bugs.

  3. So glad you had the help of your daughters. Impossible for just 1 person.
But at least your on top of it so the fleas don't get out of hand, gross!

    1. I can't stand the thought of bugs crawling all over my sweet little pets. It gives me the creeps. Since the mixture I use is non toxic, I have to use it every one or two weeks but that is okay. It gives me a chance to look over all my critters and keep them healthy.

  4. LOL Rose...I vote for the 'toilet' method! Definitely would need a 'kitty claw-proof' suit around my babies! Here is a recipe you might want to try for when you can't bathe your babies:

Home Made Flea and Mosquito Repellent
    Ingredients:
    2 cups alcohol
    4 ounces whole cloves
5 cups oil (Vitamin E, Almond, Sesame, Chamomile, Lavender, Olive, Fennel, etc.)

    Directions:
Pour alcohol into airtight bottle or jar
Add cloves to alcohol and seal bottle or jar
Stir or shake twice a day (morning and evening) for 4 days
Morning of the 5th day…add oil and shake well
    It's now ready to use.

    Instructions to use to use:
For People: Gently rub a few drops into the exposed skin (usually, neck, shoulders, arms and legs.)
For Pets: Gently rub a few drops on your pets.

Very happy Dragon was not around to hear the language! ;)

    Blessings,
    Cat

    1. Miss Kitty still has fleas. Even after the bath. Poor thing. I'll try your mixture and see if that helps. I was buying a natural repellent from petsmart that actually worked. Main ingredient cloves but they don't carry it any more. The harsh chemical poisons don't seem to do anything but make me sick.

And yes, I am very happy Dragon didn't hear me cuss. That would have been a barn burner for sure.
