I was expecting our son. Dragon had just returned from a tense deployment. It was a honey do day. He was hanging wallpaper, the kids were watching cartoons and I was prooning an out if control bush.
Then my mom called. It was an international call and very expensive. She didn't have one of our super special calling cards.
She told me to turn on the TV. The first tower had been hit. It was a tragic accident. A major disaster.
Then the second plane hit and we knew it was no accident.
I knew Dragon would leave again soon. My hope was that he would be home for our son to be born.
Don't ever forget those who died that day and those who died defending us.
Where were you when the world stopped turning?
I can still remember how I was getting ready to leave when the first tower was hit and was on the phone with my brother when we watched the plane fly in to the second tower. Such a sad day...changed so much in our country...and not all for the better. :(
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Dragon, Rose and your entire family for the sacrifices you made for our country. Very thankful that you are all together and Dragon will not be deployed anymore. Please know that I continue to send prayers and healing energy for all of you.
Hugs and Blessings...
Cat
Thank you Cat. I think being a military wife makes me appreciate the young men and women still serving even more.
DeleteIn Florida at work about 30 miles north of where GWB was speaking to a classroom filled with kids. The day is etched in my mind.
ReplyDeleteThank you and Dragon and all others for their service. Prayers for those who fought and survived that horrible day.
The world literally stopped turning that day. Thank you.
DeleteI worry that to many people have forgotten how horrible it really was.
I was in my 7th grade homeroom class. They wheeled a chair in to the classroom for us to watch the news story, and every one was shocked when the second plane hit. For some reason , I was a very naive child
ReplyDeleteI thought that Bill Clinton would be the president forever (this is when I was around 5) and that we would never see another war. Being as young as I was, this was a huge wake up call to my reality, and the event shaped much of my (short lived) adult life when I became a military wife myself.
Thank you for your contributions , and sacrifices for our country .
Old Bill didn't like to put boots on the ground but he didn't mind bombing people into the stone age. My hero worship was reserved for old Reagan. I was 8 when he was elected.
DeleteI was at work. Someone came in and told us about the first plane. We turned on the TV in time to see the second plane hit. I watched until the towers came down and then I went outside to pray for all those people and there families...survivors & those who perished. A terrible day in the US history. I will never forget.
ReplyDelete(just a lurker here)
I love to hear from lurkers. Thank you for contributing. I needed to know that some people out there still remember that day.
