Feb. 14th

Is the day of mandatory love.  A day every man is expected to get his sweetheart a present.  And HE better not forget!  It better be something sweet, preferably chocolate and romantic, candle light dinner for two?

We don't DO Valentines day at all. Not in my house.  The only reason it is recognized at all is because Dragon proposed to me on this day years ago.  It is a date neither one of us would forget.     The little things we do for each other every other day of the year means so much more.

What things you ask?

A love not in his lunch box.
A letter left under my pillow.
A bubble bath
Flowers
chocolates just because.

Noting special about these days.  No mandatory gift giving or push to find something romantic.  Just a small token of affection that says, "I love you."   That means so much more than just one day a year.

  2. We do not celebrate V-Day either because our anniversary is just a week before it, so I don't really care for the 'you have to love me and treat me to something special' thing.

    1. There never seems to be any extra money around this time of the year anyway. Dragon did propose to me on V day. That makes it a day neither one of us will ever forget.

  3. Those little notes for no reason are awesome, sometimes Daddy will leave them on my windshield so its there for me when the work day is over.

  4. You're right Rose...the little daily things are what's truly important. As I told June, to me, Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate love and should serve as a reminder to treat your love as if every day is Valentine's Day.

Wishing you both a lovely, loving Valentine's Day...each and every day of the year.

    Blessings,
    Cat

    1. Thank you Cat

In the spring, Dragon will buy me flowers. The kind I can plant in the flower beds. Roses and jasmine. He shows his love for me his own way.

  5. If and when VD becomes the only day a year that people show their love in the little things...that would be ugly. I don't mind the reminder to pay attention, but also most appreciate the everyday love.

    1. The sad part is that in some families, V day is the only day that a little love is shown. Susie, you have a good man. Your love for each other shows in your blog.

  6. I totally agree with you. Even while married, I disliked Vday. Pressure to do something special, spend money we didn't have. If you love someone then you should show it every day of the year.
