Good Bye Internet

We will be moving our circus into the new house tomorrow.  No furniture, no refrigerator or hot water.  The most heart breaking?  NO INTERNET!  But we are all ready to get out of my SIL's house.  A 2 hour drive to work for my husband from where we are not or a 30 minute drive (with city traffic) from the rental house.  Hmmmm  Not a very hard choice to make.

The puppies can come in the house.  We will have a fenced in area for them to play and we can relax a little more in our own place again.  It is so hot today that I am taking my time packing up the camper.  Work a little and then take a break.  It is working for us.  No rush.

On a sad note.  Our cat never got to see the new house.  She started out as a foster cat about 4 years ago.  There was just one problem.  She had feline leukemia and no one wanted her.  After having her in our home for a year we all fell in love with her.  She was home and knew it!  Our beautiful kitten lived a life of luxury.  She had everything a cat could ever want.  Yesterday I went out to the camper to walk the dogs and brush the cat.  Not even an hour latter, my daughter found her dead.  I should have seen it coming.  No appetite, her coat was dull and she wasn't as playful as usual.  We are going to bury her under an old oak tree.  We will all miss her.

On a better note?  DD will go back into full swing.  A house and large garage.  Privacy.  I look forward to it.  We do need to look into our rights as tenants though.  This guy let us know he can come in at any time whether we are home or not.  Not liking that.  I know the law gives us some protection.  Just not sure how much.

  1. In most, if not all, states, the landlord has to give notice (usually 24-48 hours) before entering the property. The exception is in case of an emergency (busted water line, etc). I would definitely look into it.

  2. Love your new look. Lots of luck in your new home. So very sorry about your kitty. They become so much a part of our lives don't they?

It's hot everywhere. Don't know where you are but her in Texas it's been over a 100 for the last umpteen days in a row with no break in sight. Don't know how people survived without a/c. Guess they were made of sturdier stock.

    Good luck with the move.

    1. 115* where we are. Yep a little on the hot side of warm I think. We berried my little kitten today under an oak tree. I think it will be a while before we get another cat. I'll miss her.

    1. That little kitten is already missed. I keep picking up her brush and then I have to put it right back down.

Everything is almost ready! I hope it gets easier from now on. This has been the hardest move yet.

  5. Good luck with the move. Take care of the internet conection, very important. Sorry about the cat, but she had a great life with your family.
Don't know anything about specific US law, but every country has privacy laws that prevail always above the landlord rights. He cannot enter any property unless he has an urgent reason. For regular maintenance there must be a notice.

    1. That is what I was thinking too. When we lived in military housing years ago, they couldn't enter without a warrant or the military equivalent.

I'll get back on line ASAP. We have a choice of dial up or satellite. We are comparing prices. Cheap is good but we really don't want to go back to dial up unless we have to.

  6. Good luck on the move. I can't believe the landlord can come in with no notice. You might want to check the laws on that. And I hope you can avoid dialup. Will look forward to you blogging on your adventures now that you have more privacy.

  12. I'm so sorry about your kitty, Dragon's Rose. I know that it's hard to lose a pet that has become part of the family.

I'm so happy that you will have your privacy! Oh, And I looked it up - Federal law states:
"You have a right to privacy. Your landlord cannot come into your apartment or house without prior permission unless there is a true emergency like a fire or a flood in the bathroom."
(you can find more here: http://realestate.findlaw.com/landlord-tenant-law/your-rights-as-a-tenant.html?DCMP=GOO-REAL_Tenants-Rights&HBX_PK=tenants%27+rights)

  13. Your landlord is wrong. I'm a property manager. The law states that I cannot enter without notice except in the case of an emergency. Do you have a lease? The lease itself is supposed to state that.
I have a feeling you're walking into a very bad situation.
