corsets in the news

Kim Kardishan waist training?

NOT!  Just click on the NOT to read the article on Yahoo news.

Now that is a strong opinion for me.  Why?  This is the store she is promoting and from the sad looking garment she is wearing, she purchased it from this page.

Oh yes!  I am a horrible snark.  This fashion disaster could not go without a comment.

Why is it so bad?

The items sold here do not have a steel busk.  They don't lace.  Nope.  They have four rows of hooks.  The same kind you see on a bra.

Fancy underwear?  Yes
Corset? No

I could be generous and call it a bustier but it doesn't cover the breasts.

It is super cheap and it shows.

For a quality corset, you are going to pay several hundred dollars to thousands.  You can start out cheaper but they aren't going to fit as nice as a good quality custom made corset. A good place to start is Corset Story. Similar in price to the recommended page but they are corsets.  I call this the try it out page.

Real quality comes from custom made and that costs big $$$$

PS.  I LOVE corsets and corset training.
I make my own and they fit like a glove.  If a glove could take 3-6 inched off your waist and push those droopy boobs up.

Sorry for the rant.  Reflux has me up again.  Nausea, burning, yuck. I am waiting for the Zantac to help.

  1. Hey Rose...sorry you are having a rough night with the reflux...hope the Zantac kicks in soon. It is amazing to me that Kim Kardashian is wearing and promoting such a tacky garment...she has enough money to buy a real, good quality corset. The only thing I can think of is that she is getting paid to feature this company. *sigh*

    1. Thanks Cat. That has to be what it is but you couldn't pay me enough to wear that ugly thing.

Dragon has a point also. How much would it be worth to have a celebrety wear one of my corsets? I would have to hire an assistant and still turn customers away.

  2. You do know don't you that anything tight around your waist increases the risk of acid reflux. I had to give that up years ago.

  3. Hey Rose...Dragon has a good point...I have heard that a lot of the celebrities...especially the reality stars...make a lot of money by endorsing products on social media. Good luck with your corsets!

  4. That was a pretty cheesy website, half the links did not work... but then again look who's promoting it. Kinda says it all doesn't it. I doubt anyone who is seriously into corsets is going to give those a second look... even less so if it is being promoted by a Kardashian.

    1. I agree. No way would I have that woman wear my corsets. Yuck. I have seen women wearing junk like that but they really weren't into corsets.

  5. The corsets on your link are more like "bodies". No bones, no laces, no hooks and eyes. From my experiences around Burlesque dancers, none of them are skinny-lizzies. They are very shapely and some are quite buxom. But their corsets are works of art and made to fit. They may be tight, but they are comfortably tight, and all the women look extremely sexy regardless of height or shape. Some of their corset fit to just under the bust and some have half cups.

They are not as expensive as in America, but do cost several hundreds of pounds due to the workmanship.

I have to agree with Sunny, though, as I can no longer bear anything tight around my middle due to severe acid reflux. I am now taking Omiprazole as medicaments like Zantac are not powerful enough to keep the acid in check.

I also think that any woman who wants to wear a corset so soon after having a baby must have a screw loose! She should be enjoying being a mum, not worrying about a few extra pounds around her middle. How sad!

    Hugs
